How to sit on a meditation cushion

When using a meditation cushion, it’s essential to sit in a way that is comfortable and supports your body during your meditation practice. Here are some steps to follow when sitting on a meditation cushion:

  • Place the cushion on a flat surface: Choose a flat and stable surface for your meditation cushions, such as a yoga mat or a carpeted floor.

  • Sit cross-legged: Sit cross-legged on the cushion, making sure your sit bones are on the higher end, allowing your hips to tilt slightly. Your legs should be folded, with one foot resting in front of the other.
  • Keep your back straight: Keep your back straight, with your shoulders relaxed and your chin slightly tucked in.
  • Place your hands on your knees: Rest, palms down, or bring your hands together in front of your chest.
  • Adjust the cushion height: If your hips are tilting too far forward or backward, you may need to adjust the height. Add or remove a cushion to find the right height that supports your body comfortably.
